Job Description / Responsibility
BACKGROUND:
BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) has been formed through the merger of the erstwhile Institute of Governance Studies (IGS) and BRAC Development Institute (BDI) of BRAC University. This specialized institute of BRAC University is a center of research and academic excellence. BIGD is devoted to research on governance concerns as they as they relate to development, while also conducting research on a range of development issues. BIGD promoted the creation of knowledge primarily around the themes of governance, economic growth, inequality, political economy, urbanization and sustainable development, gender issues and regional studies. It also conducts post-graduate academic courses and provides several training courses.
Finance and Accounts Officer-II performs and important role in support service conducted by the Financer and Accounts unit of the Operations division of the institute. The institute needs a competent Finance and Accounts Officer-II who will undertake certain finance and accounting responsibilities.
Major Responsibilities:
Contribute to preparation of quarterly Project Implementation Reports and Project Completion Report
Preparations of budget for various projects and keep track of utilization of such funds as per financial regulations followed by BIGD.
Track BIGD’s project expenditures against approved budgets to ensure there is no cost overrun and the expenditure is in compliance with the contracts.
Preparing monthly financial statements for BRACU as per BRACU and UGC formats.
Fund reconciliation with BRACU in case of both BDT and FC accounts
Day to day finance and accounting activities to support BIGD academic program.
Audit related preparations for both external, internal and donor’s audit .
Regular posting and updating in accounting software and monthly reconciliation of every transaction both bank and cash after posting in software.
Making project expense update. Checking/ revising in accounting software and making necessary corrections.
Examining & verifying bills & vouchers as per BIGD practice and policy.
Preparing review budget report quarterly.
Preparation of MIS report.
Performing other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor and other superior staff.
Job Nature: Full time Contractual
Duration: Initially from April 2015 to December 2015, but extendable beyond that.

Educational Requirements
Masters in Accounting/ Finance and Accounting or MBA with major in Finance and/or Accounting from any well reputed university.

Experience Requirements
4 to 5 year(s)

Additional Job Requirements
Minimum 4/5 years experience of relevant sectors or development Organization.
Working with recognized accounting software.
English language skill.
Good computer skill e.g. MS Office etc.
Sound knowledge on VAT, Tax etc.

Salary Range
TK.34000 – 40000
