Speedboat Driver/ Captain – Noakhali – German Red Cross Office Dhaka

Job Description / Responsibility
• German Red Cross of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Bangladesh Delegation is searching for an experienced ‘Speedboat Driver/Captain’ (male/female) for their DIPECHO VIII project. The ‘Speedboat Driver/Captain’ will be based in Hatiya and the duration of the contract is 1 year with possible extension starting from as soon as possible.
• In order to have gender balance in the project, qualified female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
• The speedboat driver is responsible for the transportation of project staff and assets along the Noakhali, Hatiya and Tazumuddin axis according to International Federation of Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) procedures. He/she makes all journeys in accordance with established schedules. He/she offers technical and organizational solutions for the optimization of fleet management and the reduction of running costs.
• Specific duties and responsibilities:-
• Responsible for the transportation of project staff, stakeholders and project assets within the project working areas of Hatiya, Noakhali, Tazumuddin and Ramgati
• Undertake routine maintenance and upkeep of the boats. Prior to each repair, the speedboat driver must inform the line manager of the problem detected and seek approval
• Ensure proper cleaning of the boat and fill out the maintenance frequency chart after servicing
• Inform his/her line manager of the progress and results of any work carried out and of parts to be replaced, and highlight any anomalies or problems encountered
• Manage spare parts, tools, accessories and fuel inventories
• Place orders for spare parts and fuel
• Check that the boat log books are in place and are used correctly
• Ensure that all fuel consumption and mileage data are monitored, consolidated, analysed and reported accordingly
• Prevent the misappropriation of fuel and of spare parts
• Monitor the proper operation of all safety and security or communication equipment in the boats
• Ensure that a fuel safety stock is maintained at all times
• Always ensure effective communication with line manager and passengers. (inform the line manager by SMS prior to departure and arrival)
• Ensure full compliance with GRC/IFRC security and safety guidelines

Preferable of SSC but class eight pass is essential

• Skill & Knowledge:-
• Must have good communication skills, ability to communicate in basic English
• Ability to operate and control speedboat
• Must have basic knowledge of auto mechanic
• Knowledge of Yamaha machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by sea
• Knowledge of routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
• Determining the causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it
• Valid driving license
