Job Description / Responsibility
• Installing, configuring, updating, Troubleshooting and migrating databases;
• Different types of database, operating systems administration, maintenance.
• Supervising the administration of databases, servers and related networks to ensure availability of services to authorized users.
• Addressing database system problems & solving them;
• Installing database upgrades and security patches, and monitoring;
• Working with a global team, providing Network-/ Security Services on a high level of quality
• Any other duties as assigned by management

Educational Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline

Additional Job Requirements
• Strong knowledge of database theory & design
• Knowledge about the RDBMS, e.g. Oracle Database, IBM DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Cassandra etc.
• Knowledge of structured query language (SQL), e.g. SQL/PSM, Transact-SQL
• Understanding of distributed computing architectures, e.g. Client/Server, Internet/Intranet, Enterprise
• Understanding of the underlying operating system, e.g. Windows, Unix, Linux, z/OS
• General understanding of routine maintenance, recovery, and handling failover.
• Technical, analytical, interpersonal and organization skills required
• Excellent working knowledge of up-to-date applications
• Knowledge of Servers, workstations, VMware, Citrix, anti-virus and other various software applications
• Knowledge of Amazon Web Services, Rackspace etc.
• Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work well with others, as well as independently. Attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
