FCA is looking for a
Education Programme manager / Education Specialist– Cox Bazaar, Bangladesh
The Education Specialist is responsible for supporting the planning, implementation and monitoring of the educational component of joint Finn Church Aid (FCA)/Dan Church Aid (DCA) project called “Protection and Education for Adolescent Rohingya Girls and Young Women in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh”.
She/he will co-ordinate with other DCA’s Emergency Response team members and DCA staff (especially program management) and relevant technical sectors, to ensure a joint, rapid, proportionate and effective response.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Support DCA in response design, planning and implementation of the project, focusing especially to education components with simultaneous consideration of longer term needs
• Direct supervision of Education, Life skills and livelihood related staff
• Budget holder of budget lines related to Education, Life skills and livelihood activities
• Designing the curriculum for life skills training, skills training and literacy courses with psychosocial support intergraded in all training courses
• Collecting and designing the training material
• Organising and/or facilitating capacity building of DCA staff and facilitators as agreed, but in particular in life skills training, skills training and literacy and in integrating psychosocial support into education
• Continuous assessment of needs to inform the implementation
• Support DCA facilitators in education related issues throughout the project implementation
• With the support of the Area Manager, lead the funding applications on education, life skills and livelihoods related activities
• Coordinate with local and international NGO partners, with education and PSS sector coordination, with relevant UN agencies, local government and affected community to plan, organize and implement EiE activities
• Monitor program implementation by using efficient methodology based on international standards, such as INEE minimum standards and other relevant minimum standards as well as ensuring the M&E of the ongoing projects and the setup of tools for incoming projects
• Prepare different reports, such as situation reports and communication materials (for DCA/FCA)
• Participate in education related advocacy
• Strong collaboration and coaching with the GBV programme staff involve in the Education, Life skills and livelihood activities
The Education Specialist reports to the DCA Area Manager in Cox Bazaar. A part of the work takes place in refugee camps, where conditions are demanding.
Competence and Personal Requirements:
• Professional technical experience matching the mentioned duties and responsibilities
• A minimum of 5 years international humanitarian field experience including project and budget management
Relevant educational background, including teacher training
• Project management experience
• Knowledge of the UN and cluster work
• Knowledge and understanding of the complexity related to emergency, refugee and IDP situations
• Knowledge of INEE Minimum Standards for Education in Emergencies, Psychosocial Support and Child Protection in
Emergencies;
• Proficiency in English
• Ability to work under pressure in an organized and responsive manner and independently
• Result oriented, problem solving, team player with decision making skills
• Knowledge of the context in the Myanmar/Bangladesh is an asset
The fixed-term contract for this position is made for 6 months, with potential extension based on available funding. The compensation is based on FCA Compensation System and depends on prior work experience. The compensation includes hardship allowance. Female candidates are encouraged to apply.
