Project Summary:

OBIRODH will provide support to activities aimed at fostering an inclusive and tolerant Bangladesh. Its main office is in Dhaka. This position is open to local nationals.

Position Summary:

The short-term translator/ interpreter will provide technically accurate translation of the requested documents from Bangla to English, and from English to Bangla. S/he will also be responsible for providing technically accurate verbal interpretation from Bangla to English and English to Bangla when needed. The translator/ interpreter will report directly to the chief of party (COP) and deputy chief of party (DCOP), while working cooperatively with the other project staff and partner organizations to contribute to the success of OBIRODH. This position is based in Dhaka.

Responsibilities:

· Ensure that translations of requested documents are consistent in terminology, syntax, and style.

· Conduct consecutive and simultaneous oral translation during meetings, ensuring that interpretation is technically accurate.

· Produce high-quality work under deadlines.

· Conduct relevant tasks, as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

· Master’s Degree in foreign languages or equivalent field.

· Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, including substantial experience in translating documents from English to Bangla and Bangla to English for donor-funded organizations, INGOs and NGOs/CSOs

· Experience in translation of US Government documents and knowledge of USAID terminology are preferred. Preference will be given to those with translation experience in USAID projects.

· Strong analytical, reporting and writing skills.

· Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a demanding environment.

· Good team-work and participatory skills.

· Fluent in written and spoken English and Bangla.
