Job Description / Responsibility
Department: Water and Habitat
Location: Dhaka with frequent field visits across the country
Starting date: As soon as possible
The Water and Habitat (Wathab) Field officer will be working under the direct supervision and guidance of the Water and Habitat Delegate.
Responsibilities: The Water and Habitat Field Officer is mainly responsible for:
Conducting needs assessment, planning and design of water supply, sanitation and construction projects in cooperation with other ICRC departments and the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS),
Doing engineering measurements: surveying, measurement of quantities for water supply systems, sanitation facilities and buildings construction in cooperation with BDRCS,
Supervising the implementation and monitoring of projects supported by the ICRC in cooperation with BDRCS with frequent field visits,
Identifying situations that could request ICRC support in cooperation with BDRCS,
Preparing frequent progress reports and field visit reports,
Developing a network of interlocutors.

Educational Requirements
The candidate should have graduated from a reputed College/University with degree in a relevant field such as Civil or Environmental Engineering or Water and Sanitation sectors;

Experience Requirements
At least 4 year(s)

Additional Job Requirements
4 years working experience for water, sanitation and construction projects, preferable in a humanitarian context;
Knowledge required: Thorough, technical knowledge of water supply, sanitation, construction, emergency preparedness and response;
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English and Bengali; Speaking Chakma is essential;
Computer skills: Excellent and proven computer skills: CAD software (AutoCAD/ZwCAD/A9CAD/Visio), Epanet, GIS software and MS Offices;
Other skills: Evaluation, analysis and result based management.
Personal qualities: Excellent oral and written communication skills including report writing, research and administration skills, sense of responsibility, good organizational skills, perseverance, rigor and ability to keep a good spirit in stressful situations.
