Job Description / Responsibility

To develop competent and compassionate Midwives to improve the maternal and neonatal health in Bangladesh the Department of Midwifery and Nursing, BRAC University has been implementing the Diploma in Midwifery education under Developing Midwives Project at seven Academic Centres in hard-to-reach underserved areas across the country since 2013. The programme is being implemented in partnership with six local NGOs with financial support from the UK Government.

Overall responsibility is to work as member of technical resource team and assist the Technical Advisor and the Director- Midwifery Education in implementation of the Developing Midwives Project (DMP) according to the set standards and curriculum. S/he will be particularly responsible for:
Working in close collaboration with Technical Team in terms of implementing the midwifery education programme
Developing curriculum, modules, lesson plans, guidance materials etc.
Strengthening the capacity of preceptors of the clinical facilities and ensure their compliance with the set standards
Liaising with the clinical facilities (hospitals, clinics, medical colleges) to facilitate clinical training
Assist in managing the rotational plan for the students for clinical practices
Assisting in ensuring the establishment of clinical and skill lab facilities, facilitate and maintain their proper use
Assisting in ensuring safe and proper residential and logistical requirements of the students
Assisting in documentation of the student and faculty profiles;
Providing supportive supervision to the midwifery students to improve and maintain standards of the Diploma in Midwifery education;
Assisting in ensuring implementation of planned advocacy and communication activities of the DMP
Monitoring strict adherence to the schedule and set standards of the theoretical, lab-oriented, and practical sessions, ensuring fulfilment of set standards, and carrying out monitoring of all other aspects of the DMP
Conducting other activities as and when assigned by the supervisors.

Educational RequirementsMasters in Nursing or MPH degree will be preferred Experience Requirements3 to 5 year(s) Additional Job RequirementsB.Sc Nurse or Midwife with 3-5 years of clinical experience in maternal health/obs-gynae ward
Masters in Nursing or MPH degree will be preferred
Should have, preferably, 2 years of teaching experience in midwifery/nursing
Registration with Bangladesh Nursing Council
Excellent interpersonal skills
Fairly conversant in English (speaking and writing)
Computer operational skills in word, ppt, excel etc.
Ability to work under pressure
Willing to be posted in remote areas.
