Job Context
• District Nutrition Officers – Profitable Opportunities for Food Security (PROOFS) Project
• Location: Field based (Barisal Region)
• Reports to: Head of Programs/Nutrition Expert
• Level: Junior -level position

• PROOFS is funded by The Netherlands Embassy in Dhaka, and implemented by international consortium partners ICCO Cooperation, BoP Innovation Center and iDE, in close cooperation with local partners. ICCO Cooperation, the consortium lead partner.
• The PROOFS approach includes small scale farmers, retailers, traders, financial institutions and (local) government institutions. Smallholder farmers are being organized in competitive farm business groups and connected to actors who can improve their capability to produce sufficient and nutritious food. The targeted results are twofold: increased sales and turnover and an improvement of the farmers` nutritional status.
• The Nutrition Officer is frontline position and will report to and Nutrition Expert to implement Nutrition activities in coordination with private and government sectors.

Job Description / Responsibility
• Overall Responsibilities :
• The main responsibility of the District Nutrition Officer is to ensure effective, qualitative and efficient implementation of the behavioural change communication/nutrition messaging strategy towards improved feeding, hygiene and sanitation practices and marketing opportunities for local nutritious food at district level.
• Responsibility # 1 Contextualize and actualize assessment of main challenges and opportunities for nutrition improvement and infant and young child feeding practices and identification of nutrition seals agent (NSAs).
• Rapport building with FBG and FBA
• Select and train NSAs with support of FBG
• Establish network & liaison with PSAs for NSAs sustainability
• Responsibility # 2: Support capacity development and technical backstopping of (NSAs):
• On the job training/meeting with nutrition agents and private sectors including learning visits
• Business planning meeting with nutrition agents
• Assist to develop individual NSA activity plan and reviewed the progress through monthly NSA meeting.
• Provide training for nutrition sales agents to work with social marketing toolkit
• Responsibility # 3: Ensure that nutrition messaging and social marketing interventions including monitor of NSAs activities
• Conduct community nutrition sessions.
• Conduct mobile movies awareness session on large screens
• Conduct WSH NUT community awareness session on large screens
• Organizing cooking competition and nutrition fair
• Door to door counseling
• Provide best solution in terms of field findings with respective NSA
• Regularly visited field and monitor nutrition activities
• Assist to increase the volume of products sales by NSAs
• Collect monthly sales data and compile regular basis
• Collect products wise sales data and purchase report from NSAs regular basis
• Responsibility # 4: Assist, advice and follow-up on project reporting in terms of content ,project management and administration:
• Assist to prepare monthly, six monthly progress reports
• Prepare case study on our project beneficiaries
• Prepare other necessary reports as per need of nutrition expert
• Assist to NSAs to prepare activity plan particularly community nutrition sessions
• Assist to nutrition expert in activity budget preparation for the particularly for ICCO deliverables
• Responsibility # 5: Represent PROOFS in relevant nutrition related meetings/events at district level and establish and maintain relevant network
• Conduct day observation (WBW, WHWD, WHD) in collaboration with GO-NGOs.
• Established good network/linkage with GoB line department and Private Sectors
• Attend Go-NGO & different nutrition meeting at Upazila and District level and present the nutrition intervention to the stakeholders
• Responsibility #6: Liaise with relevant private and public development actors to leverage output and outcome as well as with alternative financing/investment mechanisms.
• Meeting with relevant (public and NGO sectors) stakeholders at Upazila & district level organized
• Maintain good relation with other PROOFS staff in district level as well as region
• Maintain supportive relation with NSAs, PG members, FBA and FBG
• Communicate with financial institute for supporting the NSAs
• Working Conditions:
• Working days from Sunday to Thursday with 40 hours per week. This position may be required to work some overtime hours to attend meetings such as the Annual Audit.
• Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
• Yearly renewable the contract based on fund availability and performance.
• Have to follow ICCO HR, Admin and Finance related policy.

Educational Requirements
At least bachelor degree or higher level qualification, preferably in nutrition or in another relevant field.

Experience Requirements
• 3 to 5 year(s)

Job Requirements
• 3-5 years professional experience of nutrition / primary health care principles/training
• An understanding of Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) methodologies
• The ability to cope with basic living conditions in the field
• An affinity with low-income consumers and producers
• Good inter-personal skills and aptitude for community mobilisation and capacity-building
• Excellent team player and building relationships.
• Good knowledge of different software packages including MS Office.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Bengali.
• Willingness to drive motorcycle in remote areas.
• Can able to ride motorbike and have valid driving license
• Willing to work any district at Barisal and Rangpur regions.
