CONTEXT OF THE MISSION
Handicap International (HI) has been working in Bangladesh, one of the poorest countries in South-Asia with one of the highest density of population in the world (160 million) since 1997, with a focus on creating sustainable changes in terms of ensuring rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in society. Currently HI Bangladesh is present in 4 sites: in Sitakunda, Chittagong, in Teknaf and Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar, and in Kurigram.
Due to the scale of the crisis in Cox’s Bazar, as more than 500,000 people from the Rohingya minority have crossed the Myanmar border and taken refuge in Bangladesh, joining 300,000 to 500,000 Rohingyas already present in the country, HI has expanded its existing response in order to accommodate emergency needs. In this context, HI is conducting the following activities through mobile units and static points to Rohingya refugees and host communities:
- Provision of rehabilitation services
- Provision of psychological support
- Distributions of NFIs (shelter kits, wash kits, hygiene kits, protection kits) and food items
- Referrals to specialized protection services (SGBV and child protection services) and dealing with other protection issues (mainstreaming disability, gender and age).
DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
Under the direct responsibility of the Emergency Operations Coordinator, based in Cox Bazar, and in close coordination with HI team responding to the refugee crisis in Bangladesh, the Inclusion Project Manager will be responsible to lead the implementation of the inclusion component of the emergency response and to guarantee the technical and quality framework of HI’s activities related to promoting inclusive humanitarian action within the area of intervention in the different areas of intervention. She/he will have a strong functional link with HI teams involved in inclusive development at national level and will work in coordination with HQ TAs in charge of inclusion

PROFILE SOUGHT
Education:
- academic background related to Inclusion of excluded groups, Disability issues, Public health, Social work, Advocacy and/or Research
Experiences:
- at least 3 years of professional experience, including 2 in humanitarian context, preferably in emergency settings
- previous experience as an Inclusion Manager/Advisor experience as DVFP (Disability and Vulnerability Focal Point) Project Manager or I/ATU (Inclusion/Accessibility Technical Unit) Project Manager or equivalent
- strong knowledge of Handicap International mandate
- experience with Handicap International is a strong asset
- experience launching of operations is an asset
- knowledge of Bangladesh context
- experience in participatory assessment, advocacy and capacity building and technical support for humanitarian actors with a focus on food security, WASH, shelter, protection, health
Competencies:
- proven managerial experience
