• SFB has been implementing a project titled `SFSA Agricultural Insurance Solutions` in Bangladesh with an aim to address the weather related risks faced by small scale farmers in the country through development and promotion of micro-insurance solutions that are affordable and sustainable.
• SFB is looking for a suitable candidate to fill up the position of Insurance Project Manager – Bangladesh

• To drive the assessment of opportunities for agricultural insurance in Bangladesh
• Coordinating diverse stakeholders and clients
• Co-designing & implementing innovative products to mitigate risks for smallholder farmers
• Supporting new country expansion
• Program/project End-to-End management, including impact assessment to foster improvements & sustain product implementation.
• ACCOUNTABILITIES in coordination and under supervision of SFSA Head of Global Insurance Solutions and SFB Country Director
• Stakeholder Management / Partner Coordination……………..
• Primary focus to support the development of agricultural insurance in conjunction with local partners in Bangladesh.
• Interface with and coordinate diverse national stakeholders as needed to enact meaningful country impact in agricultural insurance led by SFSA and SFB. Stakeholders and partners include:
• – Public sector (development banks, donors, governments, NGOs);
• – Private sector (input companies, investors, MFIs, banks, agribusinesses, reinsurers, insurers);
• – Financial sponsors; and
• – Partners with technical expertise and field teams
• In collaboration with the global team, develop and present funding proposals to potential donors, manage long term relationships
• Facilitate `crowding in funding` and private sector-driven solutions to challenges in developing country agricultural risk management and transfer as well as financial inclusion.
• Feasibility Studies & Strategic Planning in Bangladesh……………
• Coordinate and conduct country reviews to determine the potential for insurance products; establish feasibility criteria and a framework to assess opportunities (draw on learns from initiatives / products in East Africa and comparable initiatives in Asia & from relevant SFSA support services & tools/ICT)
• Together with local partners, engage with ministries; insurance industry, financial / insurance and telecoms regulatory authorities, mobile network operators, NGOs, agricultural input companies, financial institutions, and farmers and their organizations to collect data and information for assessment
• Prepare reports on the above detailing feasibility, including: risks farmers face and their insurability; historical data availability and facilitation; input use; potential clients / aggregators / distribution channels; demand; funding sources; legal and insurance-regulatory issues, as well as the competitive environment
• Develop recommendations and strategy on how SFSA/SFB can be engaging at country level, including partnership/stakeholder mapping and opportunity & risk assessment
• – Identify, build relationships with and work with multiple Partners across Bangladesh:
• – For data collection & analysis
• – For insurance underwriting
• – For government licensing
• – For product distribution and marketing
• Develop, support and strengthen local relationships with key partners
• Performing extensive market analysis & feasibility studies to identify what type of agricultural Insurance is required & needed in Bangladesh.

• Based on the feasibility study findings, program manage and implement country-specific SFSA insurance strategies and establish a framework to measure impact and enable sustainability (with local buy in/engagement)
• Build capacity with stakeholders and clients to create demand and insurance product uptake in line with understanding of stakeholder needs; build local ownership for products and agreed approaches – emphasizing pro-active, multi-actor engagement, communication and support services as key enablers.

• Experience in management relating to crop insurance, agribusiness, agro-industries, and / or value chain management; demonstrated work experience and achievements in, smallholder agriculture
• Experience with smallholder risk management, including products, services and tools / technologies supporting mitigation and adaptation with strong insurance knowledge
• Entrepreneurial mind-set and experience in setting up greenfield or start-up operations; self-starter
• Proved track record with lots of energy and able to find, build relationships with and work with multiple business Partners
• Ability to enforce adherence to work schedules without direct line authority, and to share skills, knowledge and information with others
• Ability to concurrently manage and measure impact of multiple programs in different phases and regions
• Good listener with an ability to understand new customers` concerns and an ability to translate this into new products / product modifications or support services.

• Syngenta Foundation is not an insurance underwriter/ distributor, so he/she needs to work with Partners that underwrite the products & distributes the products to the farming communities.
• Must be a Bangladeshi national with strong understanding of agricultural sector and prepared to work with smallholders in Bangladesh. An attractive salary package will be offered based on experience and qualifications.
