Team Leader – Sarathi Project – Swisscontact Bangladesh

Job Context
• Location Dhaka with possible visits to field locations
• Reports to Country Director, Swisscontact Bangladesh
• Purpose: Ensuring quality and timely delivery of project activities and achieve the desired outputs and outcomes

Job Description / Responsibility
• Overall Responsibilities:
• Lead project implementation as per the donor mandate;
• Lead project approval process and enagement with the NGO Affairs Burea
• Lead in planing and budgeting project interventions;
• Lead in preparing partnership strategies, concept notes and intervention plans;
• Lead implementation and strategic decision-making based on ground realities;
• Ensure the project delivers all desired targets on time and with quality.
• Staff Management and staff capcity building:
• Support and manage the Intervention Manager and other team members to accomplish the designated tasks;
• Evaluate performance of the Intervention Manager and rest of the team members and support them to improve their technical expertise and generic skills sets;
• Ensure capacity building of the team through mentoring and coaching.
• Implementation & Stakeholder Management:
• Lead in establishing and maintaining the relationships with commercial banks, Ready-Made Garment (RMG) buyers and RMG factories and relevant government entities;
• Lead the team in developing interventions with private and public partners (including financial institutions, RMG factories and the central bank);
• Guide and support the team to implement the intervention with private and public partners (including financial institutions, RMG factories and the central bank);
• Ensure that the project activities are implemented as planned, however, make necessary course corrections if required
• Lead in reviewing progress using evidence from results measurement system;
• Lead the team to collaborate with the other projects within Swisscontact for efficient and effective project implementation and mutual learning.
• Financial Management:
• Lead the financial management of the project with delegated approval authority;
• Review and approve quarterly and annual financial report;
• Manage feduciary risk through due delligence.
• Communication and Reporting:
• Lead on managing the donor communication and donor relationship;
• Prepare project progress reports (monthly, bi-annually and annually), including technical reports and other reports as per project requirement;
• Guide Intervention Manager in organising different seminars and workshops to disseminate project learnings as and when required; and represent the project during relevant information events;
• Guide the team to prepare communication materials based on findings.

Educational Requirements
At least a graduate degree in Finance & Accounting/Business/Economics from a reputed university;

Experience Requirements
• At least 10 year

Job Requirements
• Demonstrable experience of working directly with commercial banks and specific experience in RMG sector is preferred;
• Experieice of dealing with salary accounts is desired;
• Strong understanding of branchless banking (including mobile financial services), work environment of banking and non-banking financial institutions, gender issues in finacial inclusion;
• Understanding of incentives of private sector actors, including small and medium enterprises, to adopt new business models;
• Experience of designing and imlpementing public-private initiatives would be an assest;
• Practical understanding of the socio-political and economic context of Bangladesh;
• Strong leadership and management skills and ability to deliver complex tasks within deadline;
• Proficient in English and Bangla;
• Advanced level of competency of using computer applications like MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and Powerpoint);
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in financial services and or finacial market system development;
• Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
• Physical Demands:
• Field visits play a large part in the incumbent’s activities; as such, it is expected that the incumbent is willing and able to take part in such activities as and when needed and sometimes within short notice.
• Working Conditions and Environment:
• This will be applicable according to the Swisscontact Staff Manual.
